Mother’s Day Sunday started in 1908 in West Virginia when Anna Jarvis held a memorial for her beloved Mother. She campaigned to have that day set aside to honor Mothers and in 1914 Woodrow Wilson proclaimed the 2nd Sunday of May a national holiday. This was perhaps Woodrow Wilson’s greatest achievement…according to his mom.
So what do we do with Mom this weekend? Take her for a drive in the country? Take her to the normal boring restaurant? No! Here are a few ideas to make your Mom think you’re a little bit crazy but not so much that she’ll worry about you.
Does Mom like interesting food?

Community Partnerships is doing their Casino for a Cause: A Roaring ‘20s Soiree to benefit children and young adults with mental health needs at the Brink Lounge at 701 E Washington Friday 5/9 5:30 -11. There will be Hors d’oeuvres and drink specials. Help Mom spend your inheritance at one of the many casino-style games. It’s for a good cause. $30 at the door

Has she ever talked about wanting to keep Bees? Would you like her to be busier in the summer months? Well here is her chance to find out if beekeeping is a legitimate hobby for her. “Learn to keep Bees” by Dane Co BeeKeeping Assoc. This is an informational workshop for folks that are interested in finding out what the 1st year of Bee keeping is like. The fee of $50 covers a full day of classes, handouts, free sample journals and catalogues, and props galore for you to handle.
