Hi friends!
It is my favorite time of year – the leaves have changed colors, mornings are crisp and refreshing, and I look forward to cooking warm meals that make the house smell divine. I look forward to the warmth and comforts of home during these darker months. Covid has changed that – there has been so much isolation and I miss connecting with my Madison community. I am hopeful we will get to a better place soon so we can get back to the things and people we love! But for now, how do we help bring a little of that comfort and security back for everyone? Especially considering that this pandemic has driven food insecurity and financial need to a new level for so many in our community.
Nina and I have always taken time during the Thanksgiving season to volunteer, donate and help those who struggle with food security – and especially working to support Goodman Community Center’s Thanksgiving Basket Drive. When we started volunteering years ago, they gave out 250 baskets and I remember feeling what an accomplishment that was. Now they give out over 4000 baskets and the requests keep increasing. The Goodman Community Center does so much more than this one effort, but what they achieve with this is pretty amazing, and we are thankful and proud to be able to help spread the word and build support for this each year.
So what are we asking from you? Please consider making a donation to the GCC’s basket drive, and we will match your donations up to a total of $15,000. We are hopeful that this year we can contribute to the Basket Drive and even go beyond that, to also support the food pantry into this winter season.
To make a donation and also for it to be recorded so that we can make a matching donation, please follow the instructions below:
